What is the Traveling Arcade?
The Traveling Arcade is a built-from-scratch, full-size, 2-player arcade cabinet designed with a special feature: it can be completely disassembled to allow for easy storage and travel. Styled after the 3KOAM K-9 cabinets that were popular in the 1990’s, the cabinet has a nostalgic look but also a portability that is all new. It also features a beautiful display, high-quality controls, and FPGA emulation for accurate, no-delay gameplay. All the cabinet artwork is my own creation and printed by local businesses.

Why?
Because I love arcade cabinets and old video games.
But also, because I think there’s something missing today in the video gaming experience. Playing a game together used to mean standing shoulder-to-shoulder with someone at an arcade cabinet or sitting beside them on the couch. Playing with strangers on the internet just doesn’t hit the same. So if you can’t get people to an arcade, why not bring the arcade to them?
Where To Find The Traveling Arcade
Initially, you can expect to find the arcade popping up around Bloomington and Ellettsville when the weather is nice, probably at a public park, a welcoming parking lot, or even alongside one of the trails. Eventually, the hope is to travel to further locales as well.
Check out our social media to find out where we’re going to be and when, then swing by to enjoy some games together absolutely free. The cabinet doesn’t even have a coin slot!
Let’s kick each other around in the Street Fighter and King of Fighters series or fly some sorties together in Gradius and Dodonpachi. I’m always game to try your own favorites too!
